WP2 and WP4 Workshop "Comparative analysis of the state of GE in PU and SWU. How to use findings in GEPs"

On October 29th, 2020 South-West University SPEAR team organized and held a joined workshop with Plovdiv University partner.

The interactive workshop aimed at promoting the SPEAR project and presented the assessment of the Status Quo reports from the two universities. The workshop’s goals were to determine good practices, the affirmation of mutual GE work and to reveal mutual research problems and interests in GE work, as well as to raise awareness on gender equality among university staff and students.

The total number of participants at the workshop was 28 people (due to the pandemic situation with COVID-19), out of which five people joined the zoom meeting room. The participants were academic staff, Ph.D. students, students, and external stakeholders coming from both Universities.

The workshop moderator Dr. Irina Topuzova, introduced the structure, partners, goals, and expected benefits of the SPEAR project. Subsequently, Prof. Georgi Apostolov shared his experience on the benefits of working with gender equality in Academia.

The analysis of the results and recommendations from the Status-quo assessment carried out by the two partner organizations in Bulgaria – SWU "Neofit Rilski" and PU "Paisii Hilendarski" were also presented.
The workshop ended with an open, productive discussion on the comparative analysis of the state of GE in PU and SWU and how the findings could used in GEPs.
