Gender equality and inclusion are key metrics by which performance is measured in industry today. Research is no exception. While there is no quick fix to eliminating gender disparities, the EU has identified the structural changes needed in policies and programmes to increase the participation of women in research and innovation and improve their career prospects.
On the occasion of the International Women's Day celebrations, SPEAR joined the #EUsisterprojects to promote a joint initiative on Twitter to highlight our strong commitment to working together for gender equality in European research, to create a welcoming and friendly environment for all, especially the generation of young women, and to ensure that the research brings results that improve the lives of all of us and contribute to the reduction of gender inequalities.
With the approval of the Gender Equality Plan by our Lithuanian partner Vytautas Magnus University (VMU), we finally achieved SPEAR’s key objective: to implement GEPs in its nine implementing research performing organisations.
